This morning I had breakfast at the TED Conference in Palm Springs with Bud Kolich, Director for R&D at Fisher Price. To Bud leading is about being a dream facilitator, he told me. The results he created with his employees are impressive. Watch him right here:

Jamaicas world dominace in sprinting has a bunch of reasons, but the most important one is found in Kingston at the MVP Track & Fields Club, which has developed an impressive amount of world class sprinters. Just look at the list of MVP-medals at the Olympics in Beijing:

Asafa Powell – 4×100m Gold. World Record.
Michael Frater – 4×100m Gold. World Record.
Nesta Carter – 4×100m Gold. World Record.
Germaine Mason – High Jump Silver (Great Britain)
Shelly Ann Fraser – 100m Gold
Sherone Simpson – 100m Silver
Shericka Williams – 400m Silver, 4×400m Bronze.
Melaine Walker – 400m hurdles Gold, Olympic Record, National Record.

The question is how a little club like MVP that trains on primitive grass fields has been able to deliver one supersprinter efter another? I’ve visited them, trained with them and lived with them for a week now and the receipt is coming out in my book “Champs”, which will be released world wide in September 2010;)

See ya

Jamaica, Jamaica, Jamaica!!!

Jamaica, Jamaica, Jamaica!!!

Today I’m half way through my research at Jamaica. I believe I am close to cracking the code:) Therefore I decided – after four days of intense research – to give my self a few hours rest at the pool:) Tomorrow I’m ready with a new video for you answering these three questions:
1. Why is Usain Bolt the worlds fastest man?
2. How has Jamaica (a country with only 2,6 millions inhabitants) managed to dominate the sprinting disciplines at the World Championship and the Olympics totally?
3. Where does the fuel to succes come from?

See ya!!!

Lunch with the high performance God!

Yesterday I was in Tallahassee to meet Anders Ericsson, the scientist who made some of the most mindblowing studies of high performers. Among other Malcolm Gladwell based his world bestseller, Outliers, on some of Ericssons work. Basically Anders Ercisson is questioning: What is talent? Does it really exists? And if it does, how does it work? His work is challenging those common beliefs that we unconsciously base our lives on.

Today I’ve relaxed in Miami (the weather was crap) and is now in the airport waiting for my flight to Kingston, Jamaica. From now on the real game will start! Hopefully I will be able to cover the secret behind the Jamaican world dominance in sprinting over the next five days. I will live with tham, talk with them and train with them. I will BE a Jamaican from now till Friday. And who knows – maybe I will be the first white man to run 100 m below 10 seconds;) The reggae power is waiting for me!!!

Explosive greetings from Rasmus!

Two days ago I met Asia’s most famous mountain climber in India. He climbed The Seven Summit, Mount Everest three times and reached the North and South Pole. Satya’s is an amazing character and his lessons are relevant to people in all areas of life. Here is the first clip of my interview with Satyabrata Dam. Read also Satya’s blog here or read an amazing interview with him here

Today my new book “Raising a Winner” was released in Denmark. One of my case studies is Joe Calzaghe (undefeated in 27 world title fights and the best British boxer ever). One of the main keys to his success is his father, Enzo, who have acted not only as dad but as his trainer as well. Watch the first clip from my visit at The Calzaghe’s in Newbridge, Wales. Going to Frankfurt with “Raising a winner”

Skrevet Sunday, 11. October 2009 af Rasmus Ankersen. 0 kommentarer

I am just on my way to Frankfurt to present my new book “Raising a Winner” at the big book fair. Here is a little teaser:

Raising a winner:
“Rasmus Ankersen’s conclusion is crystal clear: Talent is highly overrated! If you want to be world-class you need to practice at least 10.000 hours, regardless if your name is Tiger Woods, Wolfgang Mozart or Caroline Wozniacki. The world’s top performers didn’t necessarily have a special talent. What they did have were committed parents who were willing to go the extra mile for their children. Rasmus Ankersen introduces us to a number of loving, competent and consistent parents of the world’s best performers and poses the question: Have Earl Woods, Leopold Mozart and Piotr Wozniacki realised something about upbringing and education that other people have not?”

Achieving childhood dreams!

A massively inspiring clip! Randy Pausch (1960-2008), who was diagnosed with incurable cancer in 2006 og died two years later, tells about his life, to overcome challenges, to live your dreams and enjoy every second. This clip (watched more than 10.000.000 times at YouTube) is about living, not necessarily long, but good! It’s about true winning!

Chocking report by Morgan Stanley intern aged only 15

Skrevet Friday, 17. July 2009 af Morten Bredal. 0 kommentarer

The investment bank Morgan Stanley caused a bit of stir after releasing a report on how teenagers consume the media. The reason why I find this interesting is because it was written by the intern Matthew Robson aged only 15. A bit of a top performance by the young man, who managed not only to have his research note published, but also created a bit of a debate. Read the article from the Guardian here
